KNIGHT OF THE MONTH
CHRIS HUDNALL

by: Chris Hudnall

Thank you everybody for selecting me for Knight of the month. This is truly a great honor.

I am a cradle catholic. With my two brothers and two sisters. Moving all over the country before my tenth birthday. My dad was in the navy. I believe it was 1998 when I joined the Knights of Columbus at St. Catherine Laboure Church in San Diego. I had my own landscape construction and maintenance company. I was married to a wonderful divorcee with two fine young boys in San Diego. We all went to church together. We were active in sports and Boy Scouts. My boys earned their catholic religious medals. I was a Boy Scout leader for seven years. Raising two fine boys to men is my proudest accomplishment! Both are Eagle Scouts. Bryan is a computer nerd in Portland with one daughter. He is doing very well. Graig is a sergeant in San Francisco PD in eternal affairs with four sons. Please keep him in your prayers. All four boys go to Our Lady of Loretto catholic school.

In 2004 we moved to O’ahu. The boys were doing fine now. We enjoyed the island life. Our catholic church down the road is where I met Senator Mike Gabbard, and his daughter Tulsi separately. She was not catholic. I can talk with you about that later. 2009 had us moving to Maui. It was nice, while it was nice. We brought our horses, and settled in. 2010 began a very dark stage in my life. A “Life avalanche” as the family counselor called it. I have an older and young- er brother who was in constant contact with me at this time. We prayed together. I was assured Jesus had his hand on my shoulder. “If he brought you to this, He would see you through this!” Bankrupt, divorced, and unemployed, I moved to Arizona with my sister Kathleen, who was caring for my elderly father to just “breathe for a while”. I got back into K of C with my dad, a past Grand Knight.

A year later, I got a job in Orange County and moved to Lake Forest. My life wounds had healed, and I was feeling good. I soon met brother Ricardo. How can you avoid him!? LOL. Soon after that, I met you brothers. About then I met Cindy. A beautiful divorce too. We have been together almost 12 years now. We love gardening and are both plant nerds. We enjoy our adventures. Well, planned out, or spontaneous. We are committed to each other. We live in Tustin Ranch, so running a ministry is a geographical challenge. But I am eager to jump in to help where I can. Staying active in the Knights has been the missing part of my life I desperately need- ed. I know there is not much sand left in my hourglass. Through- out my life, I know I have been blessed. I have a love of the ocean. Sailing, surfing, and diving. I love the great outdoors and the mountains. I believe I have backpacked almost 1,000 miles, and summitted many peaks.

With you my brother Knights is where I belong now. With the hand of Jesus on my shoulder. When I meet you guys and look in your eyes, there is a deeper purpose I see. We all do what we can to make a positive difference, in Jesus’ name Amen!

I sincerely thank you all, God Bless us all,

Chris Hudnall
