HONOREE OF THE MONTH
ANA AMAYA
by: Ricardo Teano, Membership Committee
I am so glad to finally do a write up of an amazing, tireless volunteer of Santiago Church that I long admired. Let me dive into my narration right away. Ana Amaya, our selected Honoree of the Month by the Officers, is so known to work without fanfare. She starts her day early in the morning, helping as a Sacristan at the 6:00 AM Mass. After Mass she goes to work at Walmart for 8 hours. After her shift, she comes back to Church and helps again at any Liturgical services that she routinely follows. I have not heard of any complaints from her being tired. She just plows back into work wherever she is needed.

David and wife Lizbeth.
Foremost, Ana does the EM(Eucharistic Ministry) and the Extraordinary Ministry who brings communion to people who are home bound and bedridden. She is part of the Hospitality Team at the entrance of Santiago and part of the Altar Team, making sure that nothing is amiss. She does lead the Rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet with Deacon Dan during Holy Hour.
She sings with the choir both at the Sub Acute Care Facility Mass that Santiago celebrates there on the first Wednesday of the month and at Freedom Village celebrated on the Second Wednesday of the month.
During the Spanish Liturgies, I don’t know what else she does cause she also actively participates there.
Ana’s family has been Catholic for generations. Serving the Lord has always been a part of her life since childhood, she said.
To her, the Knights of Columbus is a very special organization that has a big impact on others. They do make a big difference in a positive way.
Congratulations to Ana Amaya who single-handedly earned this Honoree of the Month recognition.
